Part 1 - Installing Pulse VPN
- Click the little arrow on the bottom right of your desktop next to the icons and date/time.
- See if you have the Pulse Icon.
It looks like this.
- If you have it, you can proceed to Part 2 below. If not, proceed with the rest of these instructions.
- If you don’t have, click the little blue BigFix support center button in that same icon list.
It looks like this:
- This will open a new window. On the top left side underneath File, click the Offers Tab.
- There should be an Install Pulse Secure VPN option. If so, go ahead and click it and then click Accept near the top right. It will queue up for the installation and should start shortly thereafter. After installation, it will reboot your computer automatically. Pulse is now installed.
-
- If you don’t see that option to install Pulse, please contact the SCDA Helpdesk at [email protected] and we can get it pushed to your laptop via internet connection.
Part 2- Connecting to Pulse VPN
Note: Connecting to VPN only works on external networks. If you are in the office docked in or on the protected WiFi, it won’t work since you are already on the intranet.
- First make sure your laptop is connected to the internet (non-internal network).
- Next, click the Pulse Icon
on the bottom right, hover over SA, then choose the Connect option.
- A new window will appear. Click on Proceed.
- In this window, put in your username (without the @scda) in the User Name field. In the Password field, type your current SCDA username password. Do not check the box for Save Settings. Finally Click Connect.
- In the second window, put in the same username again in the Secondary User Name field. In the Secondary Password field, you will want to type push. Do not check the box to Save Settings. Click Connect. This will send a DUO push to whatever device you dual authenticate with.
Note: If you prefer, you can type phone in the secondary password field. This will call your phone to where you can accept the authentication via call.
Once approved it will begin the connection process which can take some time. (Takes more time on the first connect.) You may also see a black box appear which you can just ignore. They should go away on its own.
- Once the connection is completed. You can check to see if you have successfully connected to the SCDA intranet by trying to access one of your network drives. If you see an X on them, ignore that and attempt anyway. If the drive opens, then you are successfully connected.
Note: You can also check connection by hovering over the little Pulse VPN icon on the bottom right. It will say Connected if everything was done correctly.
If you run into any issues with this procedure, please contact the HelpDesk at [email protected] and we can assist.
